Up Above

While walking on top of some sand dunes, I found this interesting, reed like plant and stopped to watch the sunset here. Miles of beach surround one of my secret campsites, but perched on this dune was the best place to witness cotton candy colored skies that night!

Everlasting Tree

I discovered this ancient fig tree on my first Baja excursion and have photographed it many times since. This tree symbolizes long life and vitality to me and this was one of my favorite mornings shooting it.

River Mornings

There is very little freshwater that flows in Bajaj, and where it does often creates amazing scenes. San Ignacio is such a place, it's a beautiful town laden with history. On the outskirts are several campos along the river. My morning walk saw many birds and this starburst through the dense palms.

Tidal River

A river formed by tidal movements flows into the Pacific near Guerrero Negro, MX. The sunsets on the Pacific in Baja are so amazing in the winter, or anytime for that matter!

Secret Beach

This location truly is a secret, it takes a lot of off road driving and navigation to get here. The reward is a private beach with clear warm waters and some sand dunes as well. Distant mountains remind you of the ruggedness of Baja and the sunsets are always phenomenal.

Tropical Waves

Cabo Pulmo is one of the largest coral reefs in the world, it's crystal blue waters are tropical and full of life. I've camped on this beach several times and I always come to this spot for sunset. The only sounds you will hear on these rocks are the birds and the waves, both are enchanting.

Fabulous Fig

This tree stands alone outside of gorgeous Loreto in Baja Sur, Mexico. I arrived to photograph the tree for sunrise and was amazed to see that the rising sun aligned with the charred roots of this centuries old tree. Clearly a case of the stars aligning!

Firestorm

After a cloudy day, the sun began to peak out just before nightfall. Warming the air, and with the tide going out, I walked the beach and found these rocks covered with texture and algae. I took a few photos and admired the chaos of the sky.

Golden Light

On a secret beach In Baja, Mexico, my friends and I walked the beach looking for firewood. The amount of green and life was astounding to see in February. A breeze reminded us that it was winter, but the golden light setting on the Pacific warmed our spirits.

The Palapa

Many of the beaches in Baja are ran by families who have been caretakers for their "campos"" for many years. Campo Archelon has a million stories, it was a turtle sanctuary and became an eco friendly beach camp. Now it is becoming and eco-resort. The family who runs this camp is part of the history of Baja and gracious, friendlly people.

Stars on the Beach

In central Baja is a remote area called Bahia de Los Angeles and it is on of the most beautiful and untouched bays in the world. Sea life abounds in the warm protected waters. On this secret beach, hundreds of starfish get washed ashore with the tide each day, this was right after a storm.

Volcanic Village

The tiny village of Puertocitos is surrounded by dark colored and multicolored rock, left by volcanic activity. It is also the home to one of the most amazing hot springs I have ever soaked in. And Puertocitos has pretty amazing sunsets as well!

Rolling Tide

As the tide descended on this evening in Baja, Mexico, I was shown a vast world of life underneath. This beach just outside of San Felipe was covered in sea life when the tide rolled out, and I found the most unique sand dollars I have ever seen. The colors of the sunset that evening exploded and lit up the tidal streams.
