Saltwater Sunrise

Living on the east coast, often the most dramamtic sunrises were on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. After a long night of doing night photography at Assateague Island, I decided to stay for the sunrise. I didn't have the best location, but I popped behind a few sand dunes and the sky took care of the rest.

Pillars of Hope

A little luck occured when this young girl sat right in the frame of my photo of the Washington monument. Taken from the Lincoln memorial, I wanted to use the pillars on the left to draw the eye to the center. When the girl sat down and looked forward, the composition changed, and completely for the better.

Last Light on the Loch

A brilliant sunset I was lucky to witness at Loch Raven Reservoir in Baltimore. Just minutes from the city, this lake was the first experience I had to the outdoors as a child. It is also the first place I began taking landscape photos.

Midsummer Falls

By the middle of the summer, the flow at Kilgore Falls in Maryland is quite diminished. Usually the area is very crowded with people swimming and soaking in the falls. I was able to beat the crowds this morning and capture the green tunnel of life surrounding the falls.

The Harbor

If you've been to downtown Baltimore, no doubt you've visited the Inner Harbor, the crown jewel of my home city. On one of my final days living there, I was walking in the harbor and captured this beautiful scene. It seemed to capture all of the elements of the harbor along with the famous Maryland flag.

Great Falls

Great Falls is a large series of waterfalls and rock chutes along the Potomac River near Washington, DC. The usually calm waters of the Potomac are rough and rugged through this section, passable by only the finest kayakers. On this day the skies were illuminated and I had this location to myself.

Frozen Falls

Kilgore Falls is a beautiful waterfall tucked in a remote stretch of Maryland farmland. In the winter, the falls freeze and unfreeze often creating unique ice formations. This was taken after a very long cold spell where the ice had accumulated drastically.
